fotoMuses Mission Statement
“Which of my many photographs is my favorite?
The one I’m going to take tomorrow.” ...Imogen Cunningham
Representing a wide range of ages, races, and ethnic backgrounds,
fotoMuses is a group of women photographers with many similarities...
and many differences.
We unite in our love of photography and the desire
to share our work with others.
Through the fotoMuses, we support one another
as we work to perfect our art.
Together we share our frustrations and successes in photography
as we encourage, not only the individual, but the group goal, as well.
Working in various photographic genres and styles,
we combine our passion for photography to create a unique body of work.
We share a love for the old...
yet look to a future of change, discovering a blend of old and new…
developing fluid with pixels runs through our veins!
The photographer Edward Steichen may have said it best,
“Photography records the gamut of feelings written on the human face,
the beauty of the earth and skies that man has inherited,
and the wealth and confusion man has created.”
In our work, we strive to record those feelings, that beauty and confusion.
Perhaps we are trying to explain the emotions that we, as women, experience
in reaction to the world we sometimes see best…
through the lens of a camera.
